The Unterlinden Museum
A cultural afternoon at the Unterlinden Museum
The Unterlinden museum housed in a 13th-century cloister is certainly the most beautiful museum of fine arts in France in the countryside, it is also the most visited one with an incredible collection of works of art from the 15th to the 18th century. You have probably heard of this museum if only because it houses the world famous Isenheim altarpiece by Matthias Grünewald and Nicolas Haguenau. It is close to a creation by Bosch and includes scenes of great intensity but also fantastical scenes which was quite rare at the time. The work is very modern; it still seduces travellers and art lovers around the world today.
Address: Unterlinden Museum, Unterlinden Square, Colmar.
