Place Gambetta is one of the main squares in Bordeaux; designed by Andre Portier, it is one of the most important urban architectural ensembles in the city.
Place Gambetta is a beautiful place surrounded by a variety of trees with a great pond and a great place to take a break. Many buses stop in the square where you can shop in many independent outlets which offer the best of Bordeaux, be they chocolates (visit the Darricau House) the cannelés (amazing little confections said to have been created by nuns over 200 years ago) or fashionable cloth or tea shops.
