The Winter/Summer sports resort is well known for its very sunny climate. The village has been developing since 1936 and sits perched on a full south facing plateau at 1860m altitude in the Grandes Rousses mountain range.
The ski area called ‘Alpe d’Huez grand domaine Ski’ links up to the resort villages of Auris-en-Oisans, Huez, Ozen-Oisans, Vaujany, Villard-Reculas, La Garde and Le Freney. Its summit, the Pic Blanc is 3330 metres at its highest point and offers an exceptional panorama stretching over one fifth of French territory.
The resort is endowed with facilities that harmonize with the natural features of the resort to offer holiday makers a whole host of indoor/ outdoor, sports and cultural activities. Life style resort ‘par excellence’, Alpe d’Huez offers a wide range of opportunities for snow sports as well as plenty of other activities to try out.
There is an effective network of ski lifts and a vast ski area with significant vertical drop. Snow lovers can enjoy 4 different itineraries of almost 2000m altitude difference which guarantees long lasting fun on the ski runs! The natural geography of the area features gentle slopes at the bottom of the ski runs which is conducive to gradual progressive learning on the green runs and on the 2 areas reserved for novice skiers.

Sarenne by night
An unforgettable experience…
If you are a good skier and are looking for something a little out of the ordinary, try out this unforgettable experience on the legendary Sarenne slope.
Take the last cable car up to the top of Pic Blanc, to an altitude of 3,330m, and watch the sun set over a unique panorama. Enjoy the true spirit of the mountains in the company of our qualified ski instructors and ski patrollers. Ski the 16km of the Sarenne slope and continue your evening with a mountain dinner at the Auberge de la Combe Haute. Ski back to the village of Huez to end your evening. A shuttle service is provided from 10.15pm to transport the merry band of skiers back to the resort.
4 x 2,000m: 4 legendary descents in Alpe d’Huez
Each of these 4 descents, between 12 and 16km long, means you can ski down a 2,000m altitude drop without taking a ski lift! A total drop of more than 8,000m to explore in an exceptional setting!
