That being said, Croatia is well worth a visit in autumn. The Plitivice Lakes are magical and Zagreb is also very romantic during the season of Advent.

Many airlines from European capitals fly to Zagreb, Split, Zadar, Pula, Dubrovnik. Renting a car is the best way to travel throughout Croatia.

Travelling by train is comfortable, but this means of transport is less developed than in other European countries. Croatia is a wonderful country for road trips and rental cars are much cheaper than in any other European countries.

The country is not that big. It offers nevertheless a wide variety of landscapes. It would be a shame to be limited to a city or a destination.
